Tea party.

(My tea party last night)
Little sister Marcie gave me a pretty little tea cup and saucer last year when I was home for Christmas. I was giddy. Marcie knows how much I love a hot cup of ginger or mint tea, especially when it’s cold outside. I was home alone for a while last night, feeling blue, when I opened up my cupboard and I saw my cup and saucer waiting for me. At that moment, I wished I could have transported all of my sisters to my teeny apartment for a tea party. We could have sipped on some ginger infusion, snacked on some vanilla wafers and chatted about everything and nothing. I’m pretty sure that would have taken the blues away. I did the next best thing I could think of at the moment and had a solo tea party. I warmed up my ginger, drizzled in some honey and snuggled up on the couch. The warm tea felt good going down. I felt good.
The small and simple things really do make the world go round. Little things like giving your sister a pretty tea cup, or slipping a note of encouragement under somebody’s door. Or buying your lover a coke and sneaking it in the fridge when you come home late on Thursday night, so she can have a little sip on Friday morning to help her make it through the last day of a long week.
I am thankful for thoughtful people. I am thankful for the little joys that come my way everyday. Happy Friday everybody, the weekend awaits.
