Be mine.

Every year all of the girls in my family get together for a Valentine’s party. When we were little we would make boxes that we would put on our desks at school to collect all of our Valentines. I was always so proud of my box and thought it was the best in my class. Nowadays we get together for lunch and chocolate covered strawberries; then we make cards for each other and some people around town. This year will be the third in a row that I haven’t been able to attend the Valentine’s party with my sisters. I can’t think about missing the annual celebration without getting very, very sad. I do my best to keep the love alive by making a huge stack of cards and a massive amount of chocolate strawberries. But it’s just not the same without Marcie’s thunderous laughter, Jenny’s funny jokes, Traci’s calm demeanor, Leslie’s brilliant ideas, Jo’s spacey humor, Mom’s reliability and Fae’s slow-paced creativity. Maybe next year…
