On Mother’s Day.

I am thankful that I get to be a mother. Motherhood has changed me. I feel a greater sense of compassion, love and fatigue than ever before. My life is richer and more meaningful than I imagined it could be. Piper has made my heart grow a million times bigger. She’s like the Who to my Grinch, and I love her for it.

I am thankful for my mother. She has spent her life serving. She is selfless and tolerant and kind. She exemplifies what it means to be a mother. I owe so much to her. There’s really no way I could ever repay her for all she has done for me. I love my mom so very much.

I am thankful for all of the other mothers in my life: my mother-in-law for raising the wonderful man I call my husband, my grandma Fae for patiently teaching me and loving me, my Grandma Arleen for showing me how to have fun, and all of the other women who have cheered me on over the years.
