Sitting in a cube for more than 40 hours a week can be hard on a girl (that’s not what she said, Jared). It’s so easy to feel stuck in the routine, like each day bleeds into the next with no real difference from yesterday to today. I’m not going to lie, if I don’t keep my perspective straight, being at work will make me really moody and anxious. So, how do I cope? One thing I always look forward to is my Monday and Friday email exchange with Jenny Boo. We always add “remember when” statements at the end of each message. It really makes my day.
Here’s a sample of some of our memories:
From Jenny - remember when you kinked your neck and banged up your knee doing 80's dance moves?
From Jenny - remember when Jared hit me in the mouth with the woofle ball?
From me to Jenny - remember when you used to pack for family vacays like a week or two in advance?
From me to Jenny – remember when you were dangling by your hair from the tree in our front yard because your hair somehow got wrapped around one of the branches?
Thanks to the little things that make me laugh and smile, I make it through the work week without a breakdown. I am glad to have a job (even though it isn’t amazing) that pays the bills and I am really glad for the opportunity to laugh at myself every once in a while.
