Dear Washington DC,
Some days you give me a monumental headache. I wonder how I will survive another second stuck in my cubicle, or another second on the smelly metro, or another second dodging the hordes of people crowding the sidewalk in their spike heels. I know that you mean well and you are handing out opportunities around every corner. But please, can’t you lighten up a little? Can’t you sprout up a few more gardens and let me wear my jeans to work once in a while? Maybe you could even slow down the pace just a bit – ask the drivers to let each other merge on the freeway, tell the busses to let me sit down before they peel out into the street, and ask my boss to let me go home a few hours early as a treat for being such a dedicated employee.
I know, DC, I am being a little harsh. I will miss you when it’s time to move away. I will miss going to see your monuments at sunset, I will miss Big Ted down the street, I will miss having Sunday dinners in our bitty apartment, I will miss all of the parades and festivals, I will miss the museums and the out of town visitors. There are several other things I will miss about you, the list could get pretty long.

It's true that there has to be opposition in all things and I know that enjoying the moment is so much more important than cursing the hardness. So, thank you DC for being a neat adventure and for letting me and Jared experience it. I’ll try my best not to be bugged by you if you try your best to not be bugged by me.
Love,
Jamie

Dear Jamie,
I will miss you greatly when you leave. I'll miss your bouncy hairdo as you board my metro. I'll miss your smiling face as you photograph all my flowers and attractions. I'll miss the way you worry about my residents who are less fortunate. I'll miss the way you brighten the day for all of my residents who know you. Don't forget about me when you're gone!
Love,
Our Nation's Capital
