And then she was 2.

Our little Pip Squeak turned two on Saturday. Oh the joy she has brought to the past two years! Often times, I still think of her as my little baby even though she is swiftly becoming her own little person with opinions and an attitude and all sorts of sass. I suppose no matter her age, she always will be my baby.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Piper’s 2nd birthday, just us three amigos. Piper is a bit uneasy around a lot of people, so I’m sure she preferred it that way. We started the day with a bubble party at the park, and then we had a nice little lunch and nap.  After nap time, we hit up the carousel at the Irvine Spectrum (one of Piper’s favorite activities).
We went to Mama D’s in Newport for dinner, the same place we took Piper last year. Piper loves Mama D’s, so it will probably remain her birthday tradition for as long as we are living in Orange County. After dinner, we headed home and sang happy birthday over some Sprinkles cupcakes. Then, we let Piper open her gifts. This is the first time she has expressed excitement over opening gifts, so it was a lot of fun to watch. Piper scored big time this year with a teepee, some wooden blocks, a train set and lots of goodies from her peeps in Utah.
Thanks to our iPhones, we were able to face time with Jared’s parents and my parents so they could see Piper on her birthday. It was really nice to have a little techno-party with our families on the side.
Piper’s 2nd birthday was pretty much the perfect day. It was so wonderful to see the joy in her face as we did all of her favorite things. Soon, Piper will be sharing us with baby brother, so I’m glad we got to have one last good hurrah with just the three of us!

I can speak for both me and Jared when I say that Piper has brought an immeasurable amount of happiness to our world. She is a ray of sunshine, and we are so glad she’s ours. Happy 2nd birthday, Pip Squeak!
