I wish I could remember the day I went boating with my family at Deer Creek (above). It looks like we had a ball. I was just about one year old. Leslie (on the far left) was probably about nine. Traci (to the right of Leslie) was three. Scott (on the far right) was about five. I can’t get over Scott’s expression with his little hand on his forehead and his mouth in a wide grin. Grandma Fae’s pink hat just tops it all off.I really think I had the ideal childhood. With five sisters and a brother to play with at all times, my days were never boring. Summertime was always the best. If we weren’t out in our kiddie pool, my sisters and I would play house all day long. We weren’t the typical housewives though. We all had jobs or businesses to attend to. I was usually the hairdresser. I would set up shop in our bathroom and my sisters would come in to get their hair done for the day. Marcie was always the diva with a mystery office job. She would come waltzing in the room after “work” with her coke, purse and car keys going on and on about her crazy day. If I remember correctly, Jenny usually either owned a restaurant or was the babysitter for all of our cabbage patch dolls. Traci may have been the babysitter when Jenny wasn’t up for the task.
For some reason whenever I watch the Golden Girls I think about those days playing house. Marcie was for sure Blanche in our group. I think I was Rose, but Jenny would probably fight me for that. I would say Jenny was Dorothy and Traci was Sophia. Leslie was probably already out of the house at this point, so I can’t assign her a Golden Girl. Staci Jo was sleeping away in her crib, too young to care what was going on.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter who was who. I consider myself a lucky girl. And to all my sissy boo’s – thank you for being a friend.

This post is killing me. Jamie, you are right, I would fight you for the title of Rose. I loved playing house. I wish we could go back for just one day! Ha ha!
I'll bet you never had fights either huh? ;) I feel like I missed out on so much, being gone for all those years. :( Waaaa!
That was a crazy day at Deer Creek. I'm surprised we made it out whole. The boat was a big piece of junk! At least we were smart enough to put on the life jackets.
Am I really Sophia??? I love Sophia but was that really me??? I loved our days of playing. I liked being the school teacher I do remember that!
It's always nice to visit your blog Jamie. Your family has always been entertaining, and I'm glad you appreciate them. Enjoy the rest of your time in UT and the new adventure in CA.
