Raspberry days.

While Piper naps, I munch on raspberries. Productive, I know. I just can’t take it, they are so so good. They remind me of the good old days when my family and I would go to Bear Lake in the summer during the Raspberry Days celebration. Bear Lake grows the best raspberries. They are sweet, soft and perfectly delicious. My mom would always buy a couple of flats of raspberries at the end of our annual excursion to take home and make jam with. I was always so disappointed that I couldn’t just eat the raspberries straight up. Who needs jam?

My fond memories of Bear Lake don’t just involve raspberries. Bear Lake is where I fell for Jared. I mean, really fell for him. We had been dating for a few months and I decided to invite him to come along on our annual trip. I was so nervous to ask and I made it clear he didn’t need to feel obligated to come. Thankfully, he accepted my invitation. We had so much fun and on that trip and I decided he was pretty much the greatest guy on the planet. I fell for him when he relentlessly teased my sister Marcie for hanging out with a guy named Grant. I fell for him when he sliced his face open on a water weenie and didn’t even cry. I fell for him when I experienced his mad wave runner driving skills (I have a permanent dent in my back from him throwing me off the darn thing). And finally, I fell for him when he confirmed his love of chili and burgers. He was the guy for me. He is still the guy for me. I just love me some Jared.
