Food Revolution.

I can’t get enough of the TV show “Food Revolution” with Chef Jamie Oliver. Have you seen it? It’s all about improving the American diet, especially the foods that are fed to kids at school. Apparently, french fries are counted as vegetables in school lunches. Can you believe it? This means that schools can meet the government nutrition guidelines for vegetable servings by giving kids french fries. Now that’s sick. Anyway, Jamie Oliver is spending time in Huntington West Virginia, one of the fattest cities in America. He’s trying to raise funds for better school lunches and educate members of the community on healthy eating. Jamie Oliver is charming and entertaining. You’ve got to check it out.

I’m a big believer in eating wholesome foods to improve health and well being. I am by no means perfect at it, but I do try. I want my family and loved ones to be as healthy as possible. No french fries will be counted as veggies for my kids. Not that I will totally deprive them of goodies now and again, but the crap must be taken in sparingly. More greens less grease, I say. Now, I will step off my soapbox. Sorry about that.
In Piper news, our little gal had her six week checkup today. She’s doing great and gaining weight. She’s up to 9lbs 5oz – that’s more than three pounds more than her birth weight! The milk is flowing and she’s gobbling it up. Now if she will only let me and her Pa get some sleep at night!
