Made by me (and a little help from my friends).

This summer has been a bit of a roller coaster. I’ve had the great fortune of spending loads of time with my loved ones in the shade of the mountains. I’ve been humbled by big life changes and five billion mosquito bites on my poor legs. I’ve driven from DC to Utah and from Utah to California and back twice - coast to coast, that’s how we do. I’ve been chased by rabid dogs and woken up to the scent of dirty vermin (I think mink) blowing with the breeze into my bedroom window. I made my first par on the golf course and I’ve sneezed at least 17.5 times a day. I’ve savored my mom’s home cooking. I’ve thrown a few parties. I’ve reconnected with long lost friends and made a few new ones. I’ve felt Jenny’s baby kick her through her big belly and I’ve seen Traci’s little Claire smile and sit up so wobbly and cute without anyone steadying her.

One thing I didn’t think I’d ever do is make a quilt; but guess what...I did that too. I still need to quilt the thing and bind it, but the top is complete just in time for our big move. Don’t be too impressed. I am no crafty critter. I did it with lots of unpicking, reworking and help from my sweet sister Traci and her amazing mother-in-law Melissa. Just like the little pieces in my quilt, this summer has been pieced together in the most beautiful way by the people I love and have missed so much for the past three years. It brings me so much sadness to have to leave them all over again. But that’s life I guess. We can’t be in two places at once. California is calling. I suppose we better pick up. This time though, the long distance won’t be so long.
