I hope you aren't getting sick of my iPhone photo blog updates. Yes, I am a lazy blogger. I blame the toxic combination of pregnancy and the terrible twos. When I have a moment to update the www on what's going on in our super-exciting life, I am usually just way. too. tired. Today is a good day, though - I've stuffed myself with pretzels and peanut butter and I'm feeling like a champ. So, here's what we've been up to lately:
Easter was pretty tame this year. Piper scored big at an Easter Egg hunt with some church friends. Hunting for eggs is her new favorite activity! Easter Sunday at church was a bit of a disaster. Piper went loco on us, so we ended up going home for a bit, then going back to church. It's a long story, and one I don't really want to memorialize. We dyed some eggs too. Piper was obsessed with violently plopping eggs in the dye, resulting in cracked eggs and a messy kitchen. It was all great fun!Piper and I have been spending as much time as possible at the park. We've been playing kick ball, throwing sand at strangers, and making friends with potato bugs. I don't know what we'd do without the park.
Piper hasn't been sleeping great. The doc says that 2-year-old kids can have pretty bad nightmares, and we don't have the heart to let Pip Squeak scream her guts out for hours on end. More often than we'd like, we find Piper has weaseled one (sometimes both) of us into bed with her. Bad habit, I know. Hopefully this is a phase that doesn't last too awful long.
Piper and I like to go to the local outdoor mall in the afternoon to wander around. Our favorite stop - the kids shoes department at Nordstrom. Piper likes to first look at the fish tank, then she charms an employee into giving her a balloon. A few elevator rides later, we leave Nordstrom and wander with balloon in hand, looking for a new adventure.
We've been busy getting our house organized in preparation for baby boy's arrival. His nursery also serves as a guest room, so the decor is very minimal. I kind of like it that way. We also organized Piper's clubhouse (a closet under the stairs). Unfortunately, it only looks this good about 1% of the time.
Since Piper loves fish so much, we broke down and got her an aquarium. We will be picking some fish up for it tonight. I think she's going to freak! Also something to note - we can't seem to keep pants (or shirts for that matter) on Piper. She hates them. Good thing she's a California girl. She'd freeze her buns off most anywhere else.
We finally had a beautiful weekend (most weekends it decides to rain), so we hit up the beach. It was so relaxing and wonderful. Piper had a ball throwing sand in the water and running away from the waves. We love the beach.
Last, but not least. Some of my friends from church threw the most beautiful baby shower for me. The food was so delicious and the decor was perfect. It was nice to feel so much love and support, especially since we are out here with no family whatsoever. It is a true blessing to have some friends to rely on.
Anyway, sorry for the picture and information overload. I feel better. I hope you don't feel worse. XOXOX.
