Christmas shopping is almost done. Oh joy. Everything is all wrapped up, sitting under our evergreen trimmings, patiently waiting to be transported to a white Christmas. I look forward to enjoying the holidays with family. I look forward to Jared having a few days off work. Trust me, he deserves it. It will be nice to snuggle up to some good Christmas movies and cocoa with my main man.
Now, I do believe it’s time to make some holiday goodies. I’ve been craving snicker doodles, cinnamon rolls, wassail, and chocolate covered pretzels (you must check these ones out). I better get busy. My Grandma Fae makes the best wassail. I called her the other day for the recipe. I must share it with you, because it’s just too good to be true. Really, the perfect holiday bevvie.Grandma Fae’s Wassail:
1 stick of cinnamon
1 chunk of fresh ginger
6 allspice berries
1 dozen cloves
Tie spices in a piece of cheesecloth and steep in 2 cups of sugar and 4 cups of simmering water for one hour.
In the meantime, juice 6 lemons and 10 oranges (fresh juice makes it so so good). Once spices have steeped for an hour, combine the liquid with the lemon and orange juice, plus one gallon of apple cider. Warm through and enjoy!
